Regional Air School (RAS Tuzla)

Regional Air School is one of Romania's most prominent privately run EASA Approved Training Organisations, operating from its own purpose-built aerodrome at Tuzla on the Black Sea coast just south of Constanta, with a second simulator base in Bucharest. Founded in 2009, the school has become a recognised supplier of First Officers to European carriers including Ryanair, Wizz Air, TAROM, HiSky, and Turkish Airlines.

The flagship programme is a modular Zero-to-ATPL pathway designed to complete in around 18 months, with ground school phases structured so students can keep working and living at home between flying blocks. At roughly EUR 60,000 all-in, the total cost sits well below comparable Western European programmes, and the Romanian coast delivers more than 300 flyable days a year to keep timelines on track.

Training runs on a fleet of around 13 aircraft: Diamond DA20 Katanas for primary flying and time building, DA40s for instrument and night work, and Tecnam P2006T twins for multi-engine training, with two simulators supporting procedural and IFR work. The catalogue covers the full EASA professional pipeline plus helicopter PPL and CPL training. Oversight comes from the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority within the EASA framework, so licences are immediately portable across the EU.
