Aircraft mechanics are in high-demand around the world. With SUU you can become an aircraft mechanic (also known as A&P Mechanic or Aircraft Maintenance Technician) in under two years. SUU’s program is currently the most up-to-date in the country because it is based off of upcoming brand new standards and FAA regulations.

 

SUU is one of the only, if not the only, schools to offer helicopter maintenance as part of the standard curriculum at no additional cost. Helicopter maintenance is a bit more advanced than airplane maintenance and gives graduates an edge in competing for jobs.

NMIT is a leader in applied and professional education since 1905!

 

This programme is NMIT’s main “Into-Employment” aeronautical engineering programme and is designed to provide you with all the skills and knowledge needed to kick start a successful career in the commercial Aeronautical Engineering world.

The programme has an excellent reputation with aircraft maintenance engineers in the New Zealand aviation industry and abroad. As a graduate you will be work ready with the proficiency and reliability to be a motivated and trustworthy employee.

During the two years on this programme, you will complete two level 4 qualifications:

 

  • New Zealand Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering (Specialist Support) (General Aviation)

  • New Zealand Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering (Workplace Introductory Skills)

These two qualifications will provide you with the skills you need to go into employment in aeronautical engineering.
